He says that a teacher should be free from any prejudices and must open his/her heart to accept the uniqueness of each individual child. If any learner is weak in their subject, or not showing interest; the teacher should take it as a challenge to make that student fall in love with that particular subject.

To find the purpose of one’s life, one needs to step out of his comfort zone and face the real world. When you make your mind to fight with the troubles then you observe the change within you… and only then you wish to bring the change. With such beautiful thought and firm determination in mind Mr. Ramesh Prasad Badoni who started his career as a Reservoir Engineer in ONGC Ltd. left his job and joined the profession of teaching. He is working as a Physics Lecturer, in Govt Inter College, Misras Patti Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Today he is a distinguished educationalist of Uttarakhand and a two-time National award recipient (National ICT Award and National Awards for Teachers) in the field of teaching.  From the past 14 years, he is recognized for his spirit of encouraging excellence in education in distant, socially and economically backward hilly areas of Uttarakhand.

Fulbright distinguish teacher award selection 2020-21

When the world was fighting against this pandemic Mr. Ramesh Prasad Badoni made India and Indians proud by getting selected at the international level for the Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching Program for international teacher organised by the united states for the year 2020-21. It was for the first time in the history that a teacher from Uttarakhand has been selected for this prestigious Indo-US fellowship award where teacher from all around the world participated. Every year they invite application from teachers to participate in research and training on technical dimensions for educational advancement in prestigious universities. 

He will stay in US from the 1^st August 2021 to 31^st December 2021 and in this time period he will be engaged in research work project along with Nobel laureates: on developing modules to provide and make quality education accessible offline for such children who are living in remote areas of Uttarakhand that too free of cost through innovations and innovative methods.

Aim to work for underprivileged children

In the words of Ramesh Prasad Badoni, “My native place is Tehri district, Pujargaon village, Chandrabadni. I have to walk for 8 kilometres in order to reach my school. I have witnessed my mother’s struggle to complete our educational needs.She is a wife of VIRA CHAKRA AWARDEE (Posthumously) of Late Mr. Ram Prasad Badoni who laid down his life for the sake of our Country in North East in 1975 when I was 2 years old. What I have suffered in my childhood due to lack of proper means of resources… I don’t want these children to suffer the same.”

In spite of all these he never gave up and today he holds various degrees such as MSc Physics, M.Phil. and M.Ed. in Nanotechnology, and MBA. Not only he excelled in education but built his linguistic competency in several languages like Hindi, English, Gujrati and Pahadi (Garhwali). He acquired mastery in multiple skills such as blogging, Google-Sites creation, Youtuber, and ICT based course content developer. His wife is also a Physics teacher serving for the DAV Inter College in Dehradun. He joined this profession to bring change in his community and to contribute his parts as an educated and responsible citizen of the society. He took inspiration from his own life and with strong determination took his steps towards this road to decorate the life of other deprived children.

Integrating ICT with curriculum

To fulfil his aim, he not only included technology but integrated it with education. He is a certified trainer and resource skill person at Direct Trainer Skill (DTS), Design of Training (DoT), Evaluation of Training (EoT). He is a MOOCS developer at Swayam platform of government of India since 2016. He has created Online course for IIT Bombay for school education at Edx Platform. To make learning accessible he visualized mathematics concepts using Km Plot. Further to make the complex subjects like physics and mathematics easy He had created video tutorial lessons for secondary and senior secondary students.

He made learners understand different geometrical concepts using realia like roofs of the houses, its shape and in this way trained their young minds to be familiar with different routes of the hilly area.  He is a google certified teacher and very creatively he made use of goggle apps for making learning collaborative under the name ‘Google Project’ in his school. He digitalised teacher’s diary using google platforms which helped in maintaining records online. Due to his innovative measures, he has received NATIONAL ICT Award 2012 by President Shri Pranab Mukherjee Government of India: INTERNATIONAL ICT conference citation and certificate from UNESCO-IITE 2016; ICT best Practices Performer in Schools Award by CIET,2012; Certified Google Teacher Award BY Google Group for Usage of Google APPS in Education, 2014.

Community and Social Welfare

He is not only enlightening young minds to become a powerhouse of knowledge. He is also passionate about community and social well-being. He also serves as a member and resource person for Bal Kalyan Parishad, Uttarakhand under honourable Governor of Uttarakhand since 2014. He has been continuously involved in numerous community welfare projects such as ‘water reservoir in doon valley and robber’s cave’ to prevent soil erosion; ‘awareness program to save water resources from diminishing’; ‘save nature’ and ‘campaign on effective use of local resources.’ He also made local people realise the adverse effect of using alcohol and drugs on their health.  He visited Hyderabad for sharing his ideas on conservation of cultural resources. He received State teacher award for contributing special services in the field of school education of Uttarakhand given by State Education Minister on 5^th September, 2015.

He added numerous feathers to his cap. His other list of achievements includes Honour of Best teacher Citation from CEO Dehradun May 2019; GLOBAL INNOVATIVE TEACHER AWARD, 2016; National INNOVATIVE TEACHER AWARD, 2015; Best teacher Samman by BGVS India, 2017; Teachers Congress Best Teacher in 2014; Microsoft Innovative group of teacher-2015 and MIE 2014; Physics Teacher Award by National Council of Education, Delhi-2015; UCOST- DST, Science Teacher Congress Uttarakhand-2011 and 2012.

Shri Chandrabadani Public School

When he saw rural boys and girl’s day dreaming to study in English medium convent schools. He established Shri Chandrabadni Public School which is a CBSE board school meant for education of nursery to senior secondary level. Establishing an English medium school that too in the hilly, rural region of Pujar village, Hindolakhai, Tehri Garhwal is like paving way for the tiny drops to reach an ocean.

He is a resource person of this school. Here complete care is taken by the faculty to make learners reach their highest potential through different curricular and co-curricular activities like organising programme to preserve our cultural heritage, digitalising villagers oral script or thoughts in school, Go Green & Better dream project, explanation of endangered ethical values and culture of Garhwal by local person; using community resources for the process of teaching and learning, making children participate in local issues of Garhwal, competition like Uttarakhand bal paheli and performance of local Pahari songs by economically challenged student. Thus, using local culture as an effective tool for teaching-learning process. In the memory of his father, he also gives Scholarships to the two best athletes and six best scholars in every academic session since 2012.

Education imparted by heart can bring revolution in the society. He says that a teacher should be free from any prejudices and must open his/her heart to accept the uniqueness of each individual child.
