Pappu Harijan believes, “It requires continuous efforts to bring changes” and his efforts over the years to make his school best in every aspect, made him to win President’s award among 6 nominated teachers from Bihar.

Head Teacher of Middle School Amarpur Kulahari of Banka, Bihar, Pappu Harijan himself struggled hard and achieved the heights in education. He is the first one from his family to pass the standard 10^th board exam and become educated. His journey to get Education was not easy. He has faced financial problems as one such other problems, but he never left his passion for studying.

Strong determination to bring change

According to him every teacher has a potential and creativity but they need to bring their ideas into function. He believes “to bring positive changes in the school and society, we need to put continuous effort. Success is not an overnight achievement and if you are determined enough then there is no concept getting failure.

When he was appointed in middle school at Amarpur Kulahari of Banka district of Bihar, he found class rooms were not in a good condition and being used by the villagers to store their crops and for other works. The number of students admitted to school were also very less. To improve the situation, he approached many villagers and made them realized not to use school for their own purposes. He tried hard to make them aware about the importance of education. Therefore, as a result he was successful in bringing the best Infrastructure to school and more than five hundred students were admitted for the school as an outcome of his effort.

Smart Classrooms: for an effective learning

Nowadays Videos are playing a major role in teaching. It promotes joyful learning in students along with curiosity and interest. Initially they used screen magnifier for teaching, but later LED television and other equipment’s were donated by alumnus of the school and by local residents which helped them to teach more easily and effectively to students.

They are not only concentrating on academics but they are devoting some time every day to prepare their students to crack various competitive exams. To ensure the further studies of students they are maintaining records of pass out students every year and the students who have discontinued their studies due to insecure feelings of their parents. For them Pappu ji used to interact with their parents and made them to admit these students to Kasturba Gandhi School which was indeed a great work done by him.

Swachh Vidyalaya

Pappu Harijan ji’s main motive is to “Create an environment which will not fade but shine brighter along with the time. His School has got “Swachh Vidyalaya “award for its immense neatness and infrastructure. The teachers here proudly say that they taught their students the importance of neatness and to keep environment healthy. For example, washing hands frequently and growing plants to keep surrounding in a well-mannered way. The villagers, teachers and alumnus of school have contributed together, their best to achieve this” Swachh Vidyalaya award.”

Creating awareness in society

He is also working on creating awareness in our society for issues like dowry, smoking, education, child marriage and many more. He is also teaching people that how during this pandemic they need to follow government rules to save their lives.

During this corona outbreak with the help of the fellow teachers they are engaging students in studies using various platforms.

Best reward for a teacher is always given by students

Students have made sure that Pappu harijan ji’s memory should last forever in school and so they have painted his picture of receiving presidents’ award from former president Ram Nath Kovind on the walls of the school.
